Administrate the Revolution

And from the dusty piles

Of notices, bills

and bank letters

We march

To the bonfires

‘Burn bureaucracy!’

But first,

Risk assess it,

In case of fire.

And from the ashes

Of the garden

The empty cans

Of cheap sweet lager

We recycled into bags

Because we have to

Save the planet

Before the revolution comes

What use would be

A People’s Republic

If we were only discs

In the eye of the

Burning sun

Stood in doc martins

Atop an island

Surrounded by the

Dead Whales

That died in the furnaces

Which made the boots.

At the roll call

Of revolutionaries

At dawn,

Many are

Marked absent

Held up in a meeting.

There must be a

Safety net

In place

For radicals

Just in case

It fails

When we march

To claim the head

Of the head of state

Failed democracy ///

Fascism

Cannot be fought

In sleeping bags

Under dripping

Clinking

Iron bridges.

The rent trap

Has caught up

The rebels

Falling

Chaplin style

Comically

Infinitely

Through cogs

Wheels and conveyors

And the women

Pinned and strapped

In sewing machines

Which rattle like guns

Still caught

In the wheels

The ever-spinning reels

Of Topshop.

Drop the gun

Drop the lipstick –

Comrade.

Red blood lips

A trail on

The shop floor.

We forgot

About the war

Factory-slave-child

Made our

Radical bootlegged

Boyfriend jeans

To survive.

Cogs reels

Spools belts

Boots buckles

Bleeping pinging

Machines

to measure time.

///

But time will

Come in its own

Time.

Like the monarchs

In the palace

Stubborn stains

On the damp spirit

Of deflated liberals.

In nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti

Begone!

///

Meanwhile time moves

slowly like an

obnoxious Queen.

Wafting through palaces

As we toast our chalices

To our crumbling homes

HMRC dont forget tax return

HMRC put your brother

In the slammer

'They can lock the locks

But they can't stop the clocks'.

Take heed

It's what they decreed

///

But time waits for no man

And man waits for no woman

And woman waits for no time

And time waits for no man

And so it goes on

Until there is no time left

Except

Time is all we have

And all we have is time
