The Water Phase

There is a palpable/

sombre/

nervyness in the air.

I feel the ripples of fear

Through tunnels of the world

pass through me.

It is linked to the Thames and the water.

A long for self-exile

To go to the sea

To envy those who sailed away.

But despair ebbs and flows with the tides

And the fire has burnt out

And everything is water

Channels and ports and transmissions

Far from the hearth

Passions and desires

Linked to the earth.

Those floods and trickles

I had envisioned

Dripped through drains and cracks -

I have gone with them.

To burrow in the subconscious

The drains of the people

The suspicions of the people

The fears of the people

Below it is water

And water will flow

Wherever it goes

Domestic tap to pipe

Drain to sewer

River to ocean

Lake to sea

Estuary dries to empty earth

Waterfall crashes so high

To drop below

The reservoir contains

Replenishes and floods

And today I am so hot

I melt into the river -

But unashamed

I move towards the Danube

And away from the Thames.
