IN THE BINGO HALLS OF OUR MINDS

White Lab // Central Saint Martins// 29th april 2016

This was Rebecca's last and final performance in a theatre.

An experiment// talk// film screening// performance mashed up with the usual campery and ridiculousness, glamorous assistant and guest musicians -

Director & Perfomer: Rebecca Morris
Glamorous assistant (& co-director): Aidan Strudwick
Performers: Kat Buchanan
Ying Ping Yu
Musicians: Robin Fisher
Rachel Espeute

From a family of music hall entertainers and BINGO lovers Rebecca wants to understand the pathological desire to bring people together to be entertained. Is there still a place for something like BINGO that brings people of various backgrounds together to enjoy themselves?

Perhaps BINGO is not an answer but a route to re-discovering our entertainment heritage, and an antidote to a lonely, individualist society. Looking at her time spent in the traditional flamenco town of Jerez in Southern Spain and also other artists around her trying to find similar answers, Rebecca begins (and ends) at her roots. This is a journey to locate the Bingo Halls that exist in all of our minds – and of course, to entertain along the way, giving her final theatrical piece a send off to remember.
